JEE Mains 2018 – Eligibility, Paper Pattern and Form Notification | Syllabus | Admit Card:

In view of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Notified Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 scheduled to be conducted during April 2018, we would like to share certain important inputs for the ready reference of those candidates aspiring to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 (JEEM – 2018) as stated in the subsequent Paragraphs.

Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) Notification 2018

The Central Board of Secondary Education notified Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 shall consist of Paper – I consisting of Bachelor of Engineering & Bachelor of Technology (B.E. & B.Tech.) shall comprise the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics  AND Paper – II consisting of Bachelor of Architecture / Bachelor of Planning (B.Arch. / B.Planning) shall contain the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions in Three Sections; – Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part – II) & Drawing Test (Part III)  for Admission into Under Graduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally-Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and the Institutions funded by several participating State Governments and other Institutions shall take into consideration the candidates’ respective performance in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) 2018.

JEE Mains 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Date of Birth:

The Candidate born on or after the 1st or October are Eligible to apply for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2017.

Year of Appearance in the Qualifying Academic Educational Examination (QAEE):

Only those Candidates who have passed their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination / Class 12th Class Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any Equivalent Qualifying Examination in 2017 may also apply as Eligible to appear in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2018. The Candidates who passed Class 12th / Qualifying Examination in 2015 or earlier as well as those going to appear in such Examination in 2017 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2016.

The Candidates who appeared in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination / Class 12th / Equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2014, did not pass in 2014, but may have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2014 are also not Eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2016.

JEE Mains Online Application Form 2018

The Candidates must be having Minimum 05 (Five) Subjects in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination / Class 12th / the Qualifying Examination to be Eligible for appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2018. The Candidates having 04 (Four) Subjects are not permitted to write Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2017 and if such Candidates appear in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2017 by furnishing wrong information, their Joint Entrance Examination (Main) Rank / Result  shall be withheld.

Taking cognizance of Final Selection / Admission to be strictly in order of the Merit List and All India Ranks to be released / declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission into National Institutes of Technologies (NITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), such as, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), etc., and the other Participating Institutions, the Central Board of Secondary Education would draw up All India Merit List (AIML) / All India Ranks List (AIRL) on the basis 40% Weight age to the Marks scored in the School Boards’ Class 12th or Equivalent Examination and 60% Weight age to JEE (Main). The Weight age to school Board / Equivalent Examination Marks shall be taken into consideration only after Normalization of the Marks.

JEE Mains 2018 Exam Pattern

As a rule, the Central Board of Secondary Education shall declare JEE (Main) Paper – I Score comprising Top 150,000 candidates Eligible for appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2018;

The Central Board of Secondary Education shall announce in April 2018 the JEE (Main) Paper – 1 Scores and Top 1,50,000 Candidates eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2018;

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 will also be an Eligibility Test for admission into the JEE (Advanced) 2018, which the candidate shall have to take for admission into the Under Graduate Programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology / Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad.

The CBSE would publish the Optical Mark Recognition Based Answer Sheet / Answers Key and Scanned Image of the Optical Mark Recognition Based Response Sheet during April 2018.

The CBSE may release All India Rank JEE (Main) Paper – I & Paper – II on or before June-end 2018.

Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – Paper – I (B.E. / B. Tech.) [Online Examination] conducted in April 2018.

JEE (Main) – Paper – II (B.Arch./B.Planning) [Offline Examination] hosted in April 2018.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has notified the following Criteria for admission into National Institutes of Technologies (NITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), such as, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), etc., and the other participating Institutions.

Only the All India Ranks (AIR) are used for admissions through Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) into

National Institutes of Technologies (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Self-Financed Institutes and others.

JEE Mains 2018 Question Papers & Answer Key

The Central Board of Secondary Education shall upload the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 OMR Based Answers Key in the following Set wise Sequence on the CBSE Website.

JEE Mains 2018 Selection Criteria

As Final Selection / admission shall be strictly in order of the Merit List and All India Rank declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education for admission into NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), such as, the IIITs etc. and other participating Institutions, therefore, the Central Board of Secondary Education would draw up All India Merit / Rank List on the basis 40% Weight age to Marks scored in the School Boards’ Class 12th or Equivalent Examination and 60% Weight age to JEE (Main). The weight age to school Board/Equivalent Examination marks shall be taken into consideration only after Normalization of the Marks.

Declaration of JEE (Main) Paper–1 Score shall have Top 1,50,000 candidates Eligible for appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced).

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 will also be an Eligibility Test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the Under Graduate Programs offered by the IITs/ISM Dhanbad.

The Central Board of Secondary Education shall announce the All India Rank JEE (Main) Paper – I & Paper – II on or before June-end 2018.

JEE Mains Results & Cut Off Marks 2018

In case of a ‘TIE’, (i.e. when Two or more Candidates obtain Equal Marks (by giving 60% Weight age to performance in JEE (Main) and 40% Weight age to the Normalized  Marks in 12th Class or Equivalent Qualifying Examination), Inter-se Merit of such candidates shall be decided by the Central Board of Secondary Education in the following order:

Rank List for admission into B.E/B.Tech. (in the Institutions other than the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Resolution by the Marks scored in Mathematics in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2018. The Candidate having Higher Marks would be given better Rank.

Resolution by the Marks scored in Physics in the JEE (Main) – 2017.

The Candidate obtaining Higher Marks will be given better Rank.

Resolution by total Normalized Qualifying Examination Marks. The Candidate obtaining higher Normalized Marks shall be given better Rank.

Resolution by finding the Ratio of Positive Marks and Negative Marks. The Candidate having obtained Higher absolute value of the ratio shall be given better Rank.

If the Resolution remaining inconclusive or not possible after this Criterion, the candidates will be given the same Rank.

Rank List for admission into B.Arch. / B.Planning (in the institutions other than the Indian Institutes of Technology);

Resolution by the Marks secured in the Aptitude Test in Paper-2 (B. Arch. /B. Planning.) in JEE (Main) -2018. The Candidate having Higher Marks will be given better Rank.

Resolution by the Marks secured in the Drawing Test in Paper – 2 (B. Arch. /B. Planning) in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2018. The Candidate obtaining Higher Marks shall be offered better Rank.

Resolution by total Normalized Qualifying Examination Marks. The Candidates obtaining Higher Normalized Marks will be awarded better Rank.

Resolution by finding the ratio of Positive Marks and Negative Marks. The Candidate securing Higher Absolute Value of the Ratio will be awarded better Rank.

If the Resolution still was not possible after this Criterion, then the candidates will be given the same Rank by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

JEE Mains Admissions Counseling 2018

For Admission into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Central Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs), Self-Financed Institutes (SFIs), State Engineering Colleges for the Participating States and Other Participating Institutions:

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and Other Institutions participating through Seat Allocation Board (SAB):

Admission into the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other institutions participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank along with the criteria of subject combinations mentioned in the table here under.

Subject Combinations requisite in the Qualifying Examination for Admission into B.E./B.Tech. & B. Arch. / B. Planning Courses into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Central Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) shall be as under:

Course Essential Criteria based on Class XII / Equivalent Qualifying Examination
B.E/B.Tech

Passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination 10+2 Examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory Subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational Subject. Obtained Minimum 45% Marks by the General Category Candidates and 40% in case of the Candidate belonging to Reserved Category) in each of the Subjects.

 
B.Arch. / B.Planning

Mathematics Subject along with 50% Marks in total including Five Subjects.

Eligibility for Admission to Other Institutions:

The other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and the Participating Institutions may also like to adopt the fore cited Policies for admission. In case of a State opting to admit the students in the Engineering Colleges affiliated to the State Universities, then the State may prepare separate Rank List on the basis of the Admission Criteria decided by them.
