Taking a leaf out of the Office of Registrar, Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi, Notification for Direct Recruitment to the Post of Nursing Officer (NO) against 1372 Vacancies in Safdarjang Hospital, Online Registration for which shall commence on the 31st  Date of January 2019 (31.01.2019) onward with closing Date of ONLINE Registration: 07-02-2019 (05:00PM) , Brief Input on the Procedure for Recruitment involving Merit Based Criteria is mentioned for the ready reference of the Candidates in the Later Section of the Information Bulletin:

SJH Nursing Officer Recruitment 2019 – Modality for Application:

The Candidates fulfilling the Eligibility Criteria mentioned in the Subsequent Lines may apply for Direct Recruitment to the Post of Nursing Officer in Safdarjang Hospital. Online Registration are slated to commence on the 31st  Day of January 2019 (31.02.2019).

*Nota Bene: We would like to advise the Candidates to carefully read the Detailed Notification being released by the Office of Registrar, Safdarjang Hospital.  

Safdarjung Nursing Officer Notification

Likely Essential Educational Qualification and Desired Experience:

i) Bachelor of Science (Honors) (B.Sc. – ) in (Nursing) from any Recognized University or Institute / Regular Course in B.Sc. Nursing from any Recognized University or the Institute / Post-Basic Bachelor of Science Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) from the Recognized University or the Institute;

(ii) Registered as Nurse or Registered Nurse and Midwife [Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse & Midwifery (RNM / RN and RM) with the State Nursing Council (SNC);

(iii) Prior 06 (Six) Months’ Experience in Minimum 50 (Fifty) Bedded Hospital after acquiring the Educational Qualification mentioned hereinabove


i)  Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) from any Recognized Board or Council.

ii)  Registered as Nurse (RN) or Registered as Nurse & Midwifery or RNM or RN & RM) with the State Nursing Council.

iii)  Two-and-Half-Years’ (2½ Years’) Experience in Minimum Fifty (50) Bedded Hospital after acquiring the above Educational Qualification.

Upper Age Limitation:

The Age Limit for the Post of Nursing Officer as on 01.01.2019 will be as hereunder:

Any Candidate for the Post of Nursing Officer (Staff Nurse) should have attained the Minimum Age 21 Years but must not exceed the Age more than 30 Years on the First Day of January of the Year in which Advertisement is published, i.e., 01.01.2019.

The Candidate should neither have been born before the 2nd January 1988 (02.01.1989) nor not be born after the 1st Date of January 1997 (01.01.1998).

Relaxation in Upper Age Limitation:

  1. Upper Age Limitation in case of the Candidates belonging to the Reserved Categories shall be Relaxable up to Maximum Limit 05-Years only for Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) Candidates, 03 Years for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10 Years for the Divyang Persons / Persons with Disabilities / Physically Challenged / Handicapped Persons.
  2. The Candidates applying under any of the Reserved Categories, viz. SC/ST/OBC will be considered subject to submission of their respective Caste Certificates on a Prescribed Format issued by the Competent Authority. OBC Candidates should not belong to Creamy Layer (CL) Category. Their individual Sub-Caste should be tallied with the Central List of Other Backward Classes, failing which their Candidature will not be considered under any of the Applied Reserved Categories and is bound to be treated as Un-Reserved.

Nursing Officer Examination 2019 Admit Card:

The Office of the Controller of Examinations shall release the e-Admit Cards for the Candidates appearing in the Nursing Officer Recruitment Examination.

The e-Admission Certificates shall be uploaded in the Website Minimum 10 / 14 Days prior to the Date of the Computer Based Online Recruitment Test of 90 Minutes’ Examination Duration comprising the Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions.

The e-Hall Tickets to be issued Online for the Candidates will bear Detailed Instructions for Compliance by the Candidates.

SJH Nursing Officer Examination 2019:

There will be Single Stage of Online Mode Computer Based Recruitment Examination in English. The Computer Based Recruitment Test, with 90 Minutes’ Examination Duration, shall comprise 90 / 100 Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type carrying 360 Marks / 90 Marks with the Provision of Negative Marking for each Incorrect Response / Wrong Answer.

Appointment Slot:

The Candidates Selected in the Nursing Officer CBT Examination (DR) shall be issued Appointment with Award of the Letters of Allotment / Letters of Joint in Safdarjang Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

*Methodology for Resolving TIE:

In case of Two or more Candidates securing Equal Marks in the Computer-Based Online Test, the Candidate Senior / Older in Age shall be placed above the Younger One, implying the Candidates born earlier as per the Date of Birth will be given Preference to Recommendation to Selection to the Post.

Procedure for Selection: Selection Criteria:
Computer Based Recruitment Examination 2019 Final Merit List

Computer Based Recruitment Examination comprising 90 Multiple Choice of Questions of Objective Type aimed at Shortlisting  / Provisional Selection / Final Selection followed by Viva voce or vice versa.

The Final Merit List for the Post of Nursing Officer shall be drawn up based on the Total Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Computer-Based Online Recruitment Test followed by Personal Interview / Viva voce / Skill Test, in case there, which will determine their individual Positions for Recruitment.


*Methodology for Resolving TIE Cases:

Tie-Resolving Methodology will be applied / exercised mentioned hereunder:

In cases where more than One Candidate secures Equal Marks, the TIE shall be Resolved as follows:

i)         First by using Date of Birth with the Senior / Older Candidates placed Higher.

ii)       If the TIE not Resolved by (i), or in cases with Equal Marks and Similar Date of Birth:

iii)      Then the number of Wrong Answers / Negative Marks shall be used wherein those with Less Wrong Answers / Negative Marks will be placed Higher.
