Briefly state with reference to the Union Public Service Commission notified Stage I of the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2018 held on the 7th of January 2018 in the subsequent Paragraphs. Check out here the Engineering Services (Prelim) Exam 2018 Expected Cut-Off Marks: The Union Public Service Commission would announce latest by mid-February 2018 the Result for the Engineering Services (Stage I / Preliminary) Examination 2018 after displaying the Final Solved Answers Key in order of Set A, Set B, Set C & Set D for Category I, Category II, Category III, Category IV.

The Union Public Service Commission shall declare both Result and Minimum Qualifying Marks Community-wise in concurrence with announcement of the Engineering Services (Stage I / Preliminary) Examination 2018, however, we do anticipate the Commission to Shortlist only those General Candidates / OBC Candidates who may have secured Minimum 45% Marks in each Test and 50% in Aggregate, the SC / ST / PwDs shall have to obtain Minimum Total 40% Marks in the Preliminary Test of the said Engineering Services Examination 2018;

The Union Public Service Commission is likely to publish / release before the 16th of January 2018 Provisional Optical Mark Recognition Based Answer Sheet / Answers Key in Set A, Set B, Set C, Set D for the Test Question Booklet Category-wise

UPSC IES Prelims Expected Cut Off 2018

Even as the Commission shall publish all Communiqués in respect of Stage I / Preliminary Test, Stage II / Main Examination followed by Personality Test, Results, Minimum Qualifying Marks, Minimum Qualifying Marks for the Last Qualified Candidate, Merit List,  Final Select List, Result, relevant to the Engineering Services Examination 2018.

The Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2018 shall be conducted according to the following Plan:

(i) Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage-I) Examination (Objective Type Papers) carrying Maximum 500 Marks for selection of the Candidates for the Stage-II: Engineering Services (Mains / Stage-II) Examination carrying Maximum 600 Marks;

(ii) Stage-II: Engineering Services (Mains / Stage-II) Examination (Conventional Type Papers) and

(iii) Stage-III: Personality Test for Maximum 200 Marks

Note I:

The Commission shall draw up a List of the Candidates declared Shortlisted, Qualified for Engineering Services (Mains / Stage-II) Examination based on the Criterion of the Minimum Qualifying Marks in the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper (Paper-I) and Engineering Discipline specific Paper (Paper-II) of the Preliminary (Stage-I) Examination.

UPSC ESE Expected Cut Off Solution 2018

There will be Penalty (Negative Marking) for Wrong Answers marked by any Candidate in the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions.

  1. There shall be Four Alternatives for the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions Answers to every Multiple Choice Questions. For each MCQs for which a Wrong Response has been given by the Candidate, One-Third (0.33) of the Mark/s assigned to that Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type will be deducted as Penalty.
  2. If a Candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a Wrong Answer even if one of the given answers happened to be Correct and there would be same Penalty for marking as stated herein above for that Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type.
  3. If a Multiple Choice Questions is left Blank, i.e., no Answer is given by the Candidate, then there would be no Penalty for that Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions.

UPSC ESE Mains 2018 Exam Pattern/Scheme

The Engineering Services (Mains / Stage-II) Examination will consist of two Conventional Type Papers in Engineering Discipline Specific with Duration of 03 (Three) Hours with Maximum Marks 600 (300 Marks in each Paper).

The Stage-III will consist of Personality Test carrying 200 Marks.

The Candidates who obtain such Minimum Qualifying Marks in the Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage-I) and Stage-II: Engineering Services (Mains / Stage – II) Examination as may be fixed by the Commission as per its discretion, shall be summoned by them for Stage – III (Personality Test). The Number of Candidates to be summoned for Personality Test will be about Twice the Number of vacancies to be filled. The Personality Test will carry 200 Marks (with no Minimum Qualifying Marks).

The Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Stage-I: (Preliminary / Stage – I) Examination, Stage-II: (Mains/Stage-II) Examination and Stage-III (Personality Test) would determine their Final Ranking.

The Candidates will be allotted to the various services keeping in view their Ranks in the Examination and the Preference expressed by them for the various Services / Posts.

The Candidates are advised carefully to read special instructions to Candidates for Conventional Type Tests and Objective Type Tests given in Appendix-III (Part A and Part B) including the Procedure regarding filing in the Answer Sheet of the Objective Type Tests in the Examination Hall uploaded on the Commission’s Website on 28.09.2016.

In the Personality Test, Special Attention will be paid to assessing the Candidate’s capacity for Leadership, Initiative and Intellectual Curiosity, Tacts and other Social Qualities, Mental and Physical Energy, Powers of Practical Application and Integrity of Character.
