West Bengal Judicial Service Examination 2019 – Advices: Taking cognizance of Public Service Commission, West Bengal (PSCWB) Notification due to be released soon, we would briefly state with reference to West Bengal Judicial Service Examination 2019 for Recruitment to the Posts through Competitive Written Examination in the subsequent Paragraphs.
Online Registration in respect of Recruitment to the Posts through West Bengal Judicial Service Examination in 2019 in West Bengal shall commence with Issuance of the Notification.
Age Limitation (As On the Cut-off Date):
General / Un-Reserved Candidate should have attained Minimum 23 Years and must not exceed 35 Years of Age.
Relaxation in Upper Age Limitations for the Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories as well as the Persons with Disabilities with in excess of 40% Physical Disabilities.
- The Candidate must be a Citizen of India;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law awarded by any University / Institution affiliated to the University duly Recognized by the Central Government / State Government;
- Enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council of the Union Territories and the State in India;
- Ability to Read, Write and Speak in Bengali (not required for those Candidates whose Mother-Tongue is Nepali) vide Finance Department’s Notification No-F (P) Date.

West Bengal Judicial Service Examination 2019 – Apply Online
Selection to the Posts through West Bengal Judicial Service Examination consisting of 03 Stages as stated in the Later Part, which involves the Competitive Written Examination to be held in 03 (Three) Successive Stages, viz.:
- Optical Markup Reader Based Written Examination comprising the Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions for 200 Marks
- Main Written Examination consisting of 08 Papers for Maximum 800 Marks
- Personal Interview for Maximum 100 Marks
- Final Select List strictly based on Merit taking into account the Marks to be obtained by the General (Un-Reserved) Candidates in both Main Written Examination and Personal Interview / Personality Test.
Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the Total Marks obtained by the Candidates in the WB Judicial Service Examination Main Written Examination for 800 Marks followed by Personality Test / Personal Interview for Maximum 100 Marks. Un-Reserved (General) Category Candidates with Maximum Marks secured in both Main Written Examination (800 Marks) and Personality Test (100 Marks) shall be considered for Selected based on the Final Select List drawn up in order of Merit taking into account the Sufficiently High Marks unalike Reserved Candidates who shall be granted Relaxation in the Minimum Qualifying Marks for the Posts through West Bengal Public Service Commission notified West Bengal Judicial Service Examination 2019.
Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks:
In order to be considered as Shortlisted for Viva-voce, the General / Un-Reserved Candidates shall have to secure Minimum Qualifying 40% Marks in each Section of the Main Written Examination (Descriptive and Objective) and 50% in Aggregate for Personality Test.
Reserved Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Backward Classes / Differently-Abled Persons or Persons with Disabilities (Orthopedically Challenged / Physically Handicapped) shall have to obtain 40% Marks in each Section and 45% Marks in Aggregated to get Shortlisted for Viva-voce.
West Bengal Judicial Service Examination 2019 – Selection Criteria:
Selection for Appointment to the Posts of Additional District and Sessions Judge is strictly based on the Sufficient High Marks / Maximum Marks secured by General / Un-Reserved Candidates in both Main Written Examination and Viva-voce taken together leading to preparation of Final Select List in order of Merit. However, the Candidates belonging to Reserved Category are likely to be granted further Relaxation in the Aggregate Marks obtained both in the Main Written Examination and Viva-voce.
